So, I'm brand new to Sport Jet boating... But, I recently came across a guy selling a 1998 Bayliner Sport Jet for sale here in CO. (I've only seen it in the parking lot with ForSale sign - haven't been out on the water yet or seen it in action - planning to meet him and do that this weekend)
I've talked with the guy though and he says the following: Boat has a 175hp Mercury engine (V6 Water Cooled 2-stroke). He didn't specify # of hours, but said that due to bad health recently - he did not take it out the last couple of years and only had it out three times this summer, so far.
My considerations/concerns are:
1) His asking price ($3,000) - I did some research and would be willing to pay up to $2,500
2) He also mentioned a throttle problem; said that Reverse throttle doesn't work; but he has the part (cable) for it. - How much is that repair - AND, could there be another related issue(s)?
I'm just looking for some advice about the two points above and any additional considerations.
Thanks, in advance!
