Hi All,
Can anyone tell me whats involved with winterizing a 1998 v6 225 HP Evinrude. I know I have to fog the engine but don't know how. Never had an outboard before.
Thanks in advance
Don

Don, There a couple of things to do. First put enough fuel stabilizer in the fuel tank for the amount of fuel it contains. Now start her up on the flusher device and warm her up to let the stabilizer circulate. That motor may have a schrader valve on the fuel primer under the airbox. If so, you can buy a can of fogging oil with the same valve and inject fogging oil there. I usually remove the airbox and spray the fogging oil into the carb throats, cause I'm low-tech. Spray all carb throats, moving quickly between them, and work up a good smoke. Try to stall her with the fogging oil. If no go, turn her off. Remve flusher and let drain. Now replace gear oil and plug gaskets, pump grease fittings with fresh grease. Replace external fuel filters, and/or clean fuel screen on motor. Some spray powerhead with anti-corrosion stuff. Charge battery, remove prop. Clean and grease steering rod. That is it.....

One more thing. Remove the prop, check for any fish line around the prop shaft seals , lube the prop shaft splines and re-install prop.
