Not being an outboard mechanic, I need to know what or how do you remove the lower unit on the Force 150 1998? mine made a loud pop, then no go.. shift forward, prop does not turn and reverse vice versa..
Top few posts in this forum has links and posts from some of the guys on here that cover removal(I think)
It's easy, remove the snout on the cavitation plate(remember where it was.
There is an allenhead screw up inside after removing the snout.
Front of the drive remove the shift linkage connector(small cotter pin)
Then the 6 bolts holding it in place.
It should drop out.
You should have a 2 piece driveshaft assy.
HOPE it's just the top shaft.
Lowe units for the 150 are pretty rare and expensive.
The 120/125 even the 85/90 will fit just different gear ratios.
see how much I know about outboards, can't even get the year right... my SELOC manual tells me nothing.. I appreciate the heads up and will go out and try this when it cools down a little.. Thanks..
Oh yea Seloc is a book that tells you a lot about nothing.
They are a basic book and cover a lot of motors.
Good for general knowledge.
But not for anything important
