This is a followup to the older message that I included below. I have installed a carb kit and fuel pump kit. Still dies unless choked. Someone mentioned linkage. What are the settings that I should look at? Any other suggestions?

I have a 1998 Force 75HP. The motor will start OK when choked but when the fuel that was in the carb is used, the engine dies. Choke, Start, Die. Runs well at high idle, but as the idle lever is moved back towards slow idle it again dies. I have taken off the carb and used cleaner in the carb and it seems good. Also the last time I was at the lake, it did not have any top end power. It would idle fine and we fished all day. Any suggestions?
More Info...As long as I have the choke on the key pushed in, runs at idle. When the choke is released, it quits.
Thanks

I would start by checking for spark at each sparkplug.
Do all 3 plugs look the same?
Are all 3 getting fuel?
If you have spark, I would check the compression.

Check your Reed valves. I had the same problems with my 120hp turnes out I had 3 chipped reeds. I got new boysene reeds. Put them on and now it starts up first click and idles perfect. Also I dont burn as much gas in a short amount of time. Hope this helps.
