Re: 1998 force tilt and trim problems

make sure circuit breakers are not tripped, I have 2 on my 88 Force 125. if they are ok, it sounds like a voltage supply problem, Once, I had the wiring in the throttle lever rubbed through, but I didn't notice any clicking. it just didn't work, but then again, I was on the water, and engine was running.. noisey. Try working the trim while slowly moving the throttle forward and backwards, that might uncover a problem in the wiring., Now,, some guys say that the motors go up , and you must determine if the clicking is coming from the RELAY or the motor.... a motor will be a heavier "thunk" sound. Then post what you've found.

Oh, I forgot... find your grounds on the engine, and remove, clean, and retorque them, Same for the battery terminals. That is usually the problem 95% of the time, and if it isn't, you've just eliminated the most likely cause.

If it's an 85hp then it's not a 98 maybe a 86-89 not a 98. 90 was made from 90-99??
Pics of your system and motor??
Clicking could be a weak battery, bad solenoid, bad connections, corrosion on the contacts??
