I have a 1998 Johnson 115 that I recently replaced all the gages and rectifier on. Everything worked great afterwards the first time out and rpm read 5200 wot. I took it out for a second time today and worked great all day until on my way back to the ramp. The RPM gage stopped working and the voltage gage was only at 13 wot. Once I got it home I flushed the motor and the rom gage worked for about 30 seconds and then went to zero. I took the cowling off and the rectifier is hot. Not hot enough to burn your hand but hot. Is this normal? Any ideas on what I should check for these issues. Thanks

I’m not sure which model I have the sticker is gone. I just got the boat a few months ago. I replaced the rectifier with the same type that was on it. The one that was on it was melted on the back. It’s possible the previous owner had the wrong one on it but I honestly don’t know. There are two empty bolt holes next to the rectifier. Here is some pictures

That is the crossflow model.------Post another picture of the back of the block.---Picture of the cowling.-----Compression test should be done , post your numbers here.-----Puzzled by the fact that this motor has that particular rectifier.
