1998 Johnson 90SPL - Will Not Trim Up

Was on the water today, and shortly after putting in, the motor would not trim up. It would trim down fine. A short time later, trim worked perfectly and stayed working all day. Trimmed up at the boat ramp, but when I got home, the motor would not trim up to release the trailer lock bracket. Trim motor runs to trim down, but not to trim up. Same result from either the trim switch on the motor or the trim switch on the shifter. I have swapped the trim relays on the back motor with no change either. Fluid level is full.

I have been reading and am now wondering about the manual release valve. Would a defective manual release valve cause this problem? How much are replacement valves and can just the O-rings be changed? Any other ideas?

How do I test the Tilt Limit Switch? How hard is it to replace?

Three words - tilt limit switch. *I disconnected the switch and connected the two wires on the motor together. Trim works perfectly. *I doubt I will replace the switch since the motor does not touch the inside of the boat when trimmed all the way up.
