Hi. I've got a 1998 27' ProLine with 1999 twin 200 hp Mercury Optimax engines. Over the last 4 years, Mercury has paid for the replacement of compressors, computers, TPI's, fuel injectors, and many, many other parts on both engines. Another compressor has just failed, and I now have had to again replace the fuel injectors at my expense, as well as several other parts and labor. I wanted to inquire if anyone else has had significant problems with their OptiMax engines. I religiously clean & flush the engines after "Every" use with fresh water & salt away, & spray the insides with corrosion guard. I've had Mr. Bruce King, Western Regional Technical Mgr on my boat & working on it on many occassions, in addition to my local authorized Mercury repair shop in Marina del Rey, CA. I'm now having to deal directly with the President's Office of Mercury in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin. If anyone else is having serious problems, please let me know. This is the second set of engines on this boat as Mercury replaced the original 1998 problem OptiMax 150's with the 200's. I've got 4 years of history, & 2 1/2 inches of repairs and letters on the subject. I'm thinking about getting the new Honda 4 stroke 225 hp engines, any thoughts & recommendations would be appreciated.
