Ran engine the other day and then took it out on the lake. Used reverse away from the dock then shifted into forward with no problems. Started off then put the throttle down. The rpm's shot up but the propulsion shut down. The engines still runs and starts with no problem but when I use forward and reverse, only the rpm's go up. I took the boat home and was able to put it in neutral and turn the prop both forward and backwards. I can feel the propeller shaft and the shaft that runs from the lower unit to the engine turn. Should the prop turn while in gear and backwards in reverse? Need some help before I take it in.
