My opinion was the water pump and thermostat job was botched but I want to explore other options. It seems to pump less water when up on plane and the motor is properly mounted.

I am in the process of re-doing what the crap mechanic messed up...one thing being replacing the 143 degree thermostat he put in there with a proper 120 degree thermostat that the motor calls for.

What different things other than the typical plugged passages, bad impeller and/or housing, running lean, etc could cause a 2 stroke motor to run hot?

Any gaskets like the exhaust plate gasket or the gasket underneath the powerhead (I apologize for the improper terminology). What about anything with the exhaust relief port on the back of the mid section?

Sorry...just trying to explore my options...
