1998 mercury225 offshore won't idle

I have a 1998 mercury 225 offshore that won't run good at anything below 1500 rpm's. It's been in and out of the shop but it's still not fixed. it wants to cough and spit at anything below 1500 rpms. It runs great once you get over 1500. The last thing the mechanic did was replace this valve that sits just behind the carbs. It has two wires that i think tie into the computer. Anyway this did not help. The boat is used year round and is ran at least once a week. Mercury 1998 225xl. gater

Have you checked the spark on all the cylinders? If not do so. If you have good spark with good compression... Likely a fuel problem...<br /><br />Let us know...
