I have a 1998 Evinrude 200hp carbureted 2 stroke. Just to the left and up of each carburetor bore is a adjustable needle/screw, the screws are adjusted from the front of the engine. The PO told me it ran best with those screws adjusted to 10 1/2 turns out from seated. From what I could find the screws are supposed to be 2 1/2 turns out from seated. Does anyone know for sure how many turns out they're supposed to be?

I have 6 1989-2000 OMC 200hp outboards and 5 of them have triggers that are no good. Why and is there a modification/better way than stock?

Thanks for letting me join!

CDI electronics makes a much better trigger.-----But I have a hard time believing you have 5 out of 6 triggers bad under one roof.----Initial setting might be 5 turns for a 200 HP model.----What elevation are you running at ?

Screws initial setting is about 5 turns out from light seat. Motor has to be in water, in gear, untied to adjust . You will find that all will be from 4-3/4 to 6 turns out depending on cylinder conditions. I have replaced ton of these triggers due to resistor/diode failures in QS feature. My opinion is the voltage fed to advance coils in trigger from pack about 8-10volts takes out resistor.

Purple/grn on same side are cylinder #4 and #6 and controlled by advance coil..so diode or resister failed.
