Okay, sorry for limited information here. But a relative of mine has a Thompson Santa Cruz cabin cruise. We were on the water for about 30 mins. When it just shut down. Basically down revved to nothing. Wouldn’t start back up. Dude to a bot full of people we drug it back to shore. And trailered home. Next day started trouble shooting. The boat fired right up at home. So I was thinking coil. Then I dig deeper to find out plugs 3 and 5 were disconnected. I would think the boat would start like this but run like hell. So would this cause a stall and no start hot? I’m trying to decide on a new coil still or not. Also this is a v8 Volvo. 1998.

It's hardly ever the coil, even though a lot of folks replace them.

1998 V8 what? 5.0, 5.7, GL, GS, GXI etc????
