When I bought the motor, the dealer told me the hose hook up could be used instead of rabbit ears. I've since learned it is static only and that the motor should not be run on it. Never had an owner's manual.

Anyhow, never had a problem running it this way, except til now. With the hose hook up and the motor running, get lot's of raw fuel coming out the lower end with the water. A drinking glass filled with what comes out leaves about 1/2 inch of fuel at the top of the glass !! Motor starts fine but sputters and dies as if losing fuel pressure. Squeezing the bubble doesn't build up pressure and seems to force the fuel into the water, even when motor not running.

Asked the service desk at the dealers. They said it was probably a cool fuel problem.

If you ask me, it would be a little harsh on the environment if I had put it in the water !

Any ideas ? Ordered a manual (Seloc) cause the merc ones are on a huge back order.

The fuel is comeing from the fuel cooler. The engine was probably was strored with water in the cooling system it and froze over the winter and splt. Mercury has a new style of cooler that can be put on your engine. Call Mercury and ask them for help on the cost of the part.

Sorry, wrong serial number. Try 0g939301. Just to let you know, the same part number but it actually is a different fuel cooler. It's a kit that comes with new hoses and requires the removal of some hoses and plugging og specific holes in the exhaust plate that are no longer used.

So, you are correct in that it is a different part. Note that the serial numbers on the part are ground off at the factory for some reason or other.

Comes complete with instruction, etc. The old one, definitely leaking ! Blow into one of the fuel holes and plug the other, air comes out of the water jacket holes !

Good call guys. Thanks a bunch. You too DTS ! Any other parts that have been upgraded on this beast ?
