Recently acquired a 1999 Ficht 150 and I was told by the previous owner that the motor runs. However, whenever the key is in the "on" position, the starter will run.

I have ohmed out the harness from the key switch to the motor harness and there are no shorts.
The starter solenoid also does not appear to be sticking/stuck

The only other two components I think I am looking at are the key switch or the starting relay.

Anyone encounter this issue before on this series of motor?

Thanks!

Could be a bad/mis-wired Key Switch, or Solenoid

So I think I'm getting somewhere. I ohmed out the key switch and there are no shorts for any of the different positions.

So I wired it up as per an image I found online. I also hooked a battery up to the motor.

When cranking, the starter sounded "angry" and the flywheel didn't turn. However starter would run in the start position and stop when I let off

Suspect that the key switch was wired wrong and as a result of the starter running, it got burned up or the bearings went out.

I've got a new starter on order

Thanks for the help!
