1999 20 hp mercury

hello everyone, i need some advice i have to keep the primer bulb hard to keep running, will run for a while then will lose its prime,have rebuilt the carb,have replaced the primer bulb and line,and the fuel end connections,fuel tank, still the same problem have to keep pumping the primer buld to keep running. any suggstions??

Sounds like your fuel pump is out. Does the bulb stay hard? If not, Make sure the vent is open or leave the cap off and see what happens. But it sure sounds like the pump to me, if the bulb is staying hard There is also the possibility that the carbs are still clogged, even after the rebuild..

is the fuel pump in the carb,i am trying to help the hubby figure out what is wrong? we have no manual. thanks for your quick response.

Twells,<br /><br />The fuel pump is 'part' of the carb, it's mounted on the right side. If you'd like a picture, post your e-mail and I'll send it.<br /><br />Chris..........
