I bought a 1997 40 hp powerhead. Sent them my 1999 50 hp carburators to be rebuilt and mounted to the powerhead. Received the powerhead and can't understand how the linkage is supposed to work (see attached photo). Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I'll bite... Why are you attempting to use 50hp carbs on a 40hp powerhead?

I believe you have the link rod upside down...the roller also appears to be missing the out layer but pic may be decieving.

I do not believe there is ever that much space between the roller and the cam.

jimmbo - Dear Sir, I don't know jack about boat motors. If your role on this forum is to confuse newbies then you have succeeded with me.

My 50 hp powerhead froze up last year so I bought another powerhead from a vendor of used parts. They told me that this powerhead would work on my setup and that I could use my 50 hp carburators. I had them rebuilt by this vendor and mounted to the powerhead before they shipped it to me. Even I could tell that the linkage wasn't righr so I removed the carburators and sent them back to be corrected. I have not yet received them back.

I hope that your snarky comments make you feel real superior. Judging only by the two posts that you made to my inquiry you would serve this forum best by keeping your mouth shut.

Thank you.
