I'm looking to buy a 99 90 HP ficht, but the motor comes with no accessories at all. I have an idea of what I need to get, but is there somewhere where I can find the exact parts that I need, besides a dealer? And perhaps who has the best price ( new or used ) on them?

Thanks

Personally I would not touch a ficht. bad history.
When you say accessories do you mean controls and the like ??
Post your model number to get some better opinions.

Don't do it.
Resale is next to nothing.
If I owned it I'd run it, but I wouldn't buy one.

Here we go again.

The V4s had no more problems than the average outboard. It was the early V6s that had issues. Resale may not be great due to the perception of it being a lemmon, but if you get a good deal on it (or plan to keep it for a long time) that shouldn't matter.

The deciding factor here should be the overall condition of the engine (how well was it cared for), and how much it will cost to get all the cables and controls for it. Call around to see how much a dealer would charge to rig it with new, otherwise it may be impossible to hunt around for quality used stuff.

The motor is a e90FPLEEC and has no controls, harness, cables, oil reservoir, gauge, and prop. The owner upgrade to another motor and kept all the stuff. Now I've read that the 150-200 HP had all the problems and the 75-115 were OK, but based on the 2 replies not sure now.

I'm looking to see how much all the accessories would cost, either used or new, before I would even thing of making an offer at all.

THanks

The controls and harness and gauges are worth the cost of the motor if not more. If it had everything included I'd say go for it but you'll have to spend way more than just the cost of the motor to get it up and running.

I gave a personal opinion as you can see from my post. nothing more, nothing less. Please note that i asked the same as you regarding the controls before wanting to comment further.

Unless the price is practically nothing, do not buy the motor unless you want a project.

The 1999 is a different generation FICHT from the 2000 model year and newer ones. Parts are expensive and getting hard to find, plus trained techs familiar with the older generation engine are in short supply.

Asking price for the motor is $2000, plus price for all the accessories probably another $1000...

The bad part is that I cannot get the motor tested without the accessories, so not even sure if it runs, what compression it has, etc, etc, etc... not looking good at this time...

Just another reason to stay away from it.
