1999 Aquasport 17 w/ Evinrude..New Buyer..Help?

Ok so today I saw some boats I like today..Looking for a fishing boat, that can stay on the outer flats, and something to curise the intracoastal and maybe calm sea days<br /><br />1999 Aquasport 17 w/ Evinrude 90new trailer included. Boat looks very well kept, very clean.<br /><br />Asking price 9500<br /><br />One thing I found already was the trim was broken..just made noise. But they said they will fix just needed fluid. The very bottom of the boat is painted black which I am curious about. I would counsel to avoid OMC engines made between 1997 and 2001, particularly Evinrude Ficht injected engines that have not been brought up to Bombardier specs.<br /><br />Not only was the Ficht system incompletely developed and very unreliable, the quality control of all OMC built engines during the death throes of OMC was terrible.

Evan,On the other end of the spectrum, the Aquasport is a proven well made boat for the needs you mentioned.Don't have a clue as to why the boats bottom is painted black.It may have had some gelcoat repairs from previous damage or maybe previous owner anti foul painted it to store in boat slip.Whether you choose to get this one or not ,another Aquasport,Mako,or Boston Whaler are boats with good reputations that should suit your needs.Good luck.

Thanks guys, well today I found another Aquasport which is much clener..actually been sitting for a year or so. The motor also comes with an extended warranty until 2006...its between this boat, and then also saw a 2000 mako 171 with mercury 90 on it, the boat was not as clean and no warranty...just not sure if the mako will fly with the lady since its more of a fishing boat(not as much stoerage space..cooler..etc..)
