Can any one help! I just need a torque spec for my 1999 DF70 pinion nut. I had to tear down and replace all the bearings and I am on the reassemly part now. I cant find a torque spec on the web I figured this would be an easy spec to find, I was wrong. :(

Thanks for the quick reply, the inside diameter of the pinion nut is approximatly 7/16th I had prevously torqued it down to 45 ft lbs and stoped because I didnt want to strip the threads. Is the 01 df70 the same diameter? I'm just asking to cover my butt because I dont want to ruen the shaft. Oh yeah are we suppose to use lock tight on the nut?

the lower unit diagram shows loctite 1342 and 72.5 ft/ lbs BUT the tightning torque specs show 12(14)mm thread and 50.5 ft/lbs ??????? Same manual two different specs. Sorry for any confusion. I would think 50 ft /lbs with loctite should be pretty tight. Yamaha 150 V6 pinion nut is 68 ft/lbs. Good luck

I really appreciate you checking this out for me, I just don't want to mess things up. I replaced bearings and other parts at the tune of over $400 in this lower unit. I want to get it right the first time and be done with it. 50 Ft/lbs sounds like that might be about right. Thanks again!
