Looking for some help. I have a 1999 Evinrude 4 stoke 9.9 electric start motor on my 16' Starcraft. I can run the motor (usually just at slow trolling speed) for about an hour and then the "No Oil" light/alarm goes off and then the RPM's slow down considerably and then the motor shuts down. Can't start motor for several hours until it cools down. I'm assuming a fail safe so you don't blow motor. I checked oil and it is fine, changed it and still have problem. I replaced oil pressure switch and no luck. Took it to a repair shop and they ran motor in a tank for 2 hours and it never shut down and alarm never sounded. Of course they were not able to run it at full RPM due to being in tank. He could not figure out problem and stated oil pressure is fine. Sent me home with a $200 bill and no resolution to my problem. He suggested that it could possibly not be an oil problem and may be electrical. I ordered a new ignition coil and will try that on Friday.

Anyone ever have similar problem or possible suggestions for my problem?

Thanks in advance as always......

The oil pressure should be checked at WOT. When it quits, check the spark. It should jump a 3/8" open air gap on a tester. Or a Phillips screw driver put in a plug wire and held 3/8" away from the block.
