1999 evinrude ficht 200hp water inlet screen

Hello all,First post looking forward to many more,
So i will start off with one of my many question i'm sure i will ask you guys
I notice today after getting off the water and doing a quick inspection of the motor i notice that one of the water inlet holes that the screen is broken and missing,How hard is this to replace and if hard or expensive,Will it hurt to run with the screen missing ,Will this damage the motor in any way ??

Go to a BRP Dlr and get the proper screen. Are there screws on the outside of screen ? The screen keeps garbage from getting into the water pump.

If your gearcase has the round inlet holes with the plastic screen behind them, then the gearcase and water pump have to be removed to replace the screen.

If you have the black external screens held in place by a screw on each side, then they can be replaced without any other disassembly.

OK guys Parts are ordered ,just waiting for them to arrive,I ordered 2 inlet screen and a new water pump kit,I was out cleaning the old girl up today and thought i would look for the shift cable connecting.I found it ,but there is 2 bolts on it,Which bolt do i loosen up to remove the shift cable so when i drop the lower unit it will come free.One bolt has a slot and the other one does not.Do i loosen the one with the slot in it or both bolts??,
One of the bolts is on the front of the bracket and the other is on the side of the bracket.I will try and get a picture to help out if needed.
Again thanks for all the help guys,So far you guys a right on the money with great advise.

OK guys just wanted to say thank you all for the help,I finally got my parts after being backorder and the replacement job went good ,It took me 3 hours to replace it and have everything back together.
Thanks again for all the adivise and video you guys post.Love this site.
