I own a 1999 Force 120 ELPT, had it for 6 years and the motor runs very well. Serial number on the tilt bracket is OE362539. I recently took a good look at the tag on the powerhead (See Attached Photo) It looks like I have a Sportjet powerhead. I guess when Mercury began winding down Force production, they swapped in Sportjet heads on the outboards to use up parts. My question is the Sportjet tag lists a different plug, L77JC4 as opposed to the Champion L76V surface gap listed in the service manual. I have always used the surface gap plug with good results. Anybody know if there is a substantial difference?
