Hello all. I am new to boat ownership, and iboats. I have a 1999 Force 120, and am wondering about buying a prop. my buddy has a 13.25" 20 pitch stainless and I am wondering if it is worth the money. I want a new prop for a better hole shot. I am running about 4300 RPM's at WOT with a 13.25 i thihk its a 17 pitch. I Think the main reason I am not getting more RPMs is my jetting is set for a lower elevation. Any suggestions on the prop? IS that the right direction?

Re: 1999 Force 120 prop question

Actually at high altitude you will need to step down in pitch.
You should also lower the jets to setup for the higher altitude your not getting any more or less power just more fuel use.
You ashould be between 4500 and 5500 rpm I believe. The closer you are to 5500 the better off you are at the normal number and load of feul and etc.. You can get the SS prop and have a prop shop repitch the prop for you.

My suggestion is 17 pitch I bet you have a 19 pitch now.

Re: 1999 Force 120 prop question

Thank you Sir. i was unaware that repitching was an option. Do you know if it is expensive? I do plan to have a professional set my motor up properly before the season rolls around...I appreciate your help, and love this site!

You can add or subtract 2" from an aluminum prop, 1" if it's stainless. As far as what you need, I would expect to drop down to a 15p prop for high altitude if a 17p was okay for lower elevations.
