Hi all...just purchased a non current boat....the engine is a 1999 force 120 but it was new as well...The thing has been in for service 5 times in the 6 weeks I have had it because it will stall between 1600-2500 rpm. They have replaced the whole fuel system including the fuel pump...To say I am a little peeved is an understatement...when it quits if you prime the fuel bulb it will start right back up, does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be causing this? Running the oil at 50-1 do not beat this thing at all as it is my first boat..so I stay between 3000-4000 when cruising around..just got my merc card today telling me about the warrantee..
I do not feel safe on this thing at all what are my options from here...The dealer has been fantastic to me but I am very disappointed in my power choice.

could be fuel - check GAS TANK VENT - if it's clogged gas won't flow - look at your bulb when running at 2500rpm is it collapsing?

Could be bad fuel pump - does pumping it while it's running keep it going?

Could be bad electrical wire on you stator or trigger assembly. Do you have good spark on all cyls through the range? Use a timing light to check - while running in the water.

(this assembly rotates as you increase throttle - you could have a wire that is rubbing and shorting out)

Could be carb trouble with floats not set correctly or jets clogged.

First figure out if it's fuel or electrical - the go from there.

Don't just assume it's fuel

Bulb is not collapsed at all....but if you pump the bulb while it is stalling it will recover...if you pop the vent lid and drive it at 1700 it will still stall in 3-20 minutes....this is very aggravating...at over 3000rpm never a burp...runs strong as can be.. 5200 rpm max at 43mph...

they have replaced the entire fuel system....including the fuel pump...this motor is only 6 weeks old even though it is a 99...this makes it even more aggravating..
