Hello,

My wife and I just bought our first boat this weekend, a 1999 Glastron SX with a 3.0 Volvo engine. We bought it off of Craigslist, but got a survey done beforehand, which came back clean. We took the boat out on the lake the day we bought it and everything was running great. However, after about 3 hours, the engine shut off and when we opened the engine cover, there was some white smoke. Now, the key turns, but there is no clicking sound. The battery is fully charged but the guages won't turn on when you turn the key. I'm assuming I overheated the engine, but we weren't running it very hard at the time.

Does this sound like something thats going to take a lot of $$$ to fix? I doubt this is something I have the technical knowledge to fix myself.

Any help/ advice you can give me is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Until you know what's wrong, it's impossible to even guess how much it's going to cost to fix.

That's like me telling you that I am going to the grocery store, then asking if you have any ideas of how much it will cost me?

You could have a loose battery cable, or a blown fuse, or circuit breaker, defective ign. switch, or any number of things.
