Started getting my boat ready for the summer. I changed fuel lines installed a new water fuel filter and two new batteries and new plugs. Pumped all the old fuel out of the tank and put 30 gal of non ethanol gas. Ran the boat in the yard and everything seemed fine. Got to the ramp yesterday started perfect and idled great. Went 1/2 mile in the no wake zone and came up on plane quick and ran about 200 yards and died. Then tried to restart and it would start and shut off. Did this three or four times before I had my buddy tow me in. I'm thinking fuel pump has gone bad due to sitting for just under a year. I had been using ethonal gas but treating it. Anyone have input? Thanks

One other thing is when I removed the fuelfromthe tank I used a vacuum pump and removed it from where the fuel exits the tank not from the fill. Could this have damaged the fuel pick up?

Removing the old fuel is not relevent to your issue. So the motor runs for 3 sec and then dies? That model motor probably uses battery voltage to make spark when cranking with starter. Maybe you have no spark when you release key from start mode? First test...disconnect black/yellow wire from ign switch. See if motor continues to run. If so, you likely have bad ign switch. If not, Second Test... remove spark plugs, and jumper across starter solenoid connecting the battery cable to the starter cable. Don't jumper to the primary wires. Using a timing light see if you have spark when jumpering solenoid. If no spark, stator or powerpack could be bad. If you do have spark, something else is wrong, possibly fuel issue.
