I was preparing my boat for the first run in a year, (this engine has less than a hundred hours 1999 2.6 Litre V6 150 EFI). It would start but only run for a minute then die, good fuel pressure, good spark. I suspected bad gas or fuel gum; I replaced the fuel filter and gas. Same problem, I think I just needed to flush out the bad fuel. Then the fun starts, my neighbor came over and decided to "help", my phone rang and I had to go in the house, as I returned he had my compressor going and had it hooked up to the pressure test port on the Schrader Valve, fuel was spraying everywhere.

The first obvious problem was a hole in a brass elbow joint going from the throttle body to the pressure regulator on the vapor separator. The next obvious problem was an exploded float in the fuel separator. I replaced the float, the float valve and the elbow joint. At this point I do not have fuel delivery to the throttle body via the fuel pump in the vapor separator, I suspect the pump may be damaged.

My first question is how much pressure should I expect at the top of the fuel pump (between the vapor separator and throttle body)? Second, was the fuel squirting out of the elbow joint most likely from the pulse fuel pump (only squirted while turning over)? Third, what was the suspect first problem running only a minute then shutting off? Last question, should I kill my neighbor?
