Is it possible to have an EFI merc 5.7l engine on an Alpha 1 outdrive? MPI are only compatible with Bravo, correct?

So the outdrive doesn't know what kind of fuel injection is on the motor? How ignorant of it...

Seriously, Alpha drives were mated to bg block motors. It was not a great marriage, but it worked.

Yea, the ignorant Alphas go to 300 hp, so they can accommodate the the 5.7L engines. The outdrives don't care so much about EFI, MPI, TBI, or that sort of stuff.

But I've also read other posts that claim exhaust flow is restricted when the 4" diameter dual exhausts on the V8s are downsized to a single 3" outlet, causing decrease in RPMs at WOT.
