I have a 1999 150 merc blue water on my pro-line and it has been sitting for a year. When I stared it at dockside, it fired right up but when I squeezed the trigger to put it into gear it would not do so in either forward or reverse.
The button to bypass the trans worked just fine. After trying it repeatedly, it finally started working correctly and functioned correctly for the day. When we finally got ready to pull anchor at the end of the day, however, it happened again only this time it would only go into forward and not reverse.
Anyone ever had this problem? Does it sound like I need to lubricate the control mechanism somewhere and if so, precisely where?
I want to take it back out tomorrow because the fish are boiling but I don't want to risk getting stranded either.
Any ideas?
thanks
