I recently changed my spark plugs and I was looking at bottom of the lower engine cowling and found something that looks like part of my choke linkage. It is about 3 inches in length and looks like it has been precision machined (Its kind of in shape of a bullet, but flat on one side) It also has a metal wire attached to it that can swivel and the other end of the metal looks like it attaches to something.

I took some pics of it but can't download to this forum, because they are too big.

By the way I have been having trouble with my electric choke, I have been manually choking it toget it started.

Thanks for any help!

Randy
ps. I can email those pics to whoever would like to take a closer look!

that is because the part you found is the choke plunger.
if you look on the stbd side just aft and below the middle carb you will see a coil with a socket that has a flat, the wire goes to a tiny post on the middle carb choke lever and is retained by a tiny oring in the groove of the leaver post.
that explains your choke problem.
good luck and keep posting

Rodbolt,

Thanks for the reply! I will have to take a look at it in the morning after the rain stops. Would you have any idea why it would have come off? Did something else maybe break?

Randy

rodbolt,

thanks for the help, I believe I found where the wire goes, but where does the plunger itself go to? Right now it is hanging from the tiny post.

thanks,

Randy

look to the aft and below the middle carb on the starbord side. you should see a coil with a blue and black wire. that is the coke soleniod. place the bullet end in first then attach the wire end to the choke lever.
good luck and keep posting
