1999 Volvo 5.0 GL-PWTR spark plug gap and lack of power issue.

I am working on my friends Chris Craft Decksport 230 and I was wondering what the spark plug gap is supposed to be. I am having a problem with it dying at idle and the last time we had it out it topped out at 25 mph. Any other advice to what I should check out?

I am replacing the plugs, wires, cap and rotor, water impeller, a rotted fuel hose, and the fuel filter. I am hoping this takes care of the problem, but I don't know a whole lot about these motors. Thank you.

AC- MR43LTS spark plugs with a .035 gap.
When you change the fuel filter, empty the contents of the carb into a clean container and see if there is a lot of water in it.
Is your fuel pump making any strange sounds?
