I have read thru old posts and have confirmed that the 3-wire sending (sensor) on the outdrive is what needs to be replaced on my boat. The current sensor has 2 joined black wires and a separate single white wire. The white wire broke off right at the sensor. The two leading Sensor numbers I have found are 3849411 and 3863007 nad it appears that the first number listed is the most recent Part. Here are the prices I found online:

3849411 - $117.25
3863007 - $48.59

Is the 3849411 worth $70 more?

The 007 number is an old number and price, and is NLA. The new number is the 411 number you posted.

Thanks.

Do you know if there were any major updates to the 411 that make it better than the 007? Like solving the white wire breakage that seems to plague these.

Without additional comments I will opt for the lower costed sensor - assuming the more costly on has bells and whistles I don't need - such as built in limiters and digital output.

It's an obsolete part, so you probably won't find it. But if someone does have it go for it. They were replaced because they didn' work very well or last very long.
Good luck.

New part is arriving next week! Is it as simple as lowering the out drive as low as the limit cables will allow and making sure the dash gage is at the lowest mark on the analog gage readout?
