Hi again,
I am helping a friend today to get his motor running, It has not been started in over 9 months and will not start and stay running, I figure it is all gummed up and we need to pull and clean the carbs, He is out looking for a set of carb kits right now, he is also looking for a manual.

The power tilt and trim button clicks a solonoid but the motor does not run, last time he had it out it worked fine , where do I start to look....???

On the relay you will see a green and blue wires, remove wires and hook these up by jump leads to your battery, if the motor spins, you need to test the relay (solenoid). clean and check wire connections and earth, i can't help with the test procedure for the relay. good time to check the fluid levels as well.

Got it running, all the carb jets were varnished up.

The trim solonoid is clicking and the motor gets warm. It will not spin, Can the motor be removed from the unit or is a complete dis-assembly required?

There is 3 bolts (just below the 3 pan head screws) remove these and out comes the motor; install your new motor don't forget replace the o ring.

Thanks for the tips and the part list. I am thinking to pull the trim motor off and see if we can break it free. After two years of sitting thing tend to not want to move. The steering was also stuck but we managed to free it up with a lot of wd-40and some patience.
