I just purchased a 16' Capri..1992, and badly nicked the prop as soon as I put in the water. As near as I can tell the prop is 10 1/8" x 15p aluminum. The motor is a Force 70. Being a total novice I didn't realize what I had done and ran the boat for an hour or so. It would run about 35 mph and would vibrate pretty badly when I idled down. Any way, the boat seemed to perform pretty good with these prop specs. so I was wondering if I should buy a new prop with the same specs., or is there a better one for this size boat? I don't know if anyone knows what the original prop would have been on this model. I went to Bayliner.com but couldn't find this info. Any help appreciated, Kelly

I would suggest get the prop repaired. Then get the max rpm and speed. by gps if possible.Speed alone isn't much help.Rpm alone is no help.A speedo can be off up to 5 mph in either direction.I will say that 35 mph is pretty good speed if accurate. If a prop change is needed you can keep the old one for a spare.
