I am needing to do some repairs on this 1982 Sorenson 10ft. The previous owner decided to use calking to fill all the old holes. What a pain. Now I am wanting to do this the correct way. This is my first boat. I got it free. Came with a 7.5 Evinrude. Not sure if it runs. I have my Grandpa’s 8hp Honda that needs needs some minor repairs. But the boat is first on my list. Any help would be great. Let me add I’ve never messed with Fiberglass so this is a first for me. Thank you.

when taking pictures...stand back 10 feet farther than you are so we can get perspective.

Thank you Scott, I took the pictures like that on purpose. I wanted them to be up close. I have other pictures that are farther away but the forum won’t let me post them because It is due to the file size.

The gouges and holes are really simple fixes. The missing cut out rectangle is a bit more challenging but...even that is easy if you have the right products. You'll need 1/2 yard of 1.5oz Chopped strand mat, and 1/2 yard of 1708 biaxial fabric. 1 quart of Polyester Boat Resin with catalyst, and 1 lbs of Cabosil. When you have all the materials let us know and we'll walk you through the repair process.

Wood glass, thank you! I will let you know when I get the materials.
The previous owner put 1x4 under the edges where the oar locks go. I thought that was a good idea.
My plan was / is to replace the rotted out 1x4’s glue and screw them into place. Drill in to them not all the way through and flush mount the oar locks so they don’t stick up. Fiberglass around the gap where the oar lock does t take up. Or refiberglass the rectangles and cut new holes in place where the oar locks will be.
The extra holes that are currently called over I was going to grind/sand out and just resin over them from the inside and try to gel coat the outside. Does this seem like a good start?

Yeah, as stated before some pictures of the boat further away will really help us to help you. You can use Microsoft Paint on your PC to resize the pics.
