Hello All,
Let me begin with a little background. I am aprx. 40 years old and have never owned a boat. I am now in the market to buy a sports type fishing boat. In the 10-15k price range. I would like to do some flats fishing and putter around the many lakes in the area. Any suggestions on a model would be greatly appreciated. Anyone have any internet links were I can learn more would be helpfull also. Any pitfalls I should avoid would be nice to know also or just hearing about some of your experiences with your first boat I'm sure would be interesting and fun to hear about.
Thanks In Advance,
Eric(newbie)

In your area....Check out Pro-line, Kenndy Craft both are real good boats. Look for used and save money.

Thanks for the 2 replies. Considering the number of post at this site I was slightly disappointed in the number of responses recieved. Guess I won't be using this group anymore.

Bye,
Eric

Try simply reading posts, then asking specific questions. There are numerous threads discussing various boats and manufacturers.

but I guess you have already left the building....

Sometimes it takes awhile before someone who's able to help you out sees your post and replies. You sound rather anxious for information...well, I hope your anxious rather than impatient. Although they are the exception...Lord knows there are enough rude, impatient boaters out there...we don't need anymore.

It would be helpful if you'd at least narrow down a bit more what type of boat you have in mind. There are countless types, styles, sizes of boats for you to choose from in that price range that one could classify as a sport fishing boat. When I hear "sport fishing boat"...I think of an open hull design...walk around helm, etc (Ryobi, Whaler, etc.)

No matter what you choose, I caution you to exercise great care and PATIENCE in your research and ultimate decision as to which boat you buy.

Walt

EriS,

I trust you understand, that your asking a rather general question won't make each and everybody who replied to an identical question at an earlier point, jump back in and write it all again.

To help sharing knowledge these forums stores lots of posts and keep them ready for anybody to search through.

All hands here loves to help - that's how it all works. Please pay respect to those folk's effort and do some searching to get your share of the wisdom.

You'll be much better at asking after reading some of the previous posts and you'll know much more.

Sorry to hear you think about leaving this site as it definately is one of the very best around. Think it over - you're still most welcome.

Re: 1st Boat

Some questions just dont get answered for lots of reasons. Heck I asked pretty much the same question about a boat and got a very few responses. Other questions and there was more than enough respones. Just depends stick with the site you are not going to find a more helpful bunch of people.
