Sold my 21"bowrider yesterday and want to get a center console in the 17-18foot range. My sons want to fish much more than ski. Mostly fresh water use fishing and pulling toys but also need it for 4 or 5 trips to the gulf for bay/inshore use. Prefer one with rear seat layouts. My time is very valuable to me and as such do not like spending time fixin but would rather spend it fishing. The wife is involved so a colored hull is also on the want list ....although toward the bottom. The models I've looked at online are Century, Mako, Trophy, Key West and Polar. Also want a 4 stroke for the lower noise factor. So..what model boat/engine do I need to focus my search on?

Re: 1st Center Console Input Needed

I have riden in a Mako Trophy and Polar all around early 2000 models and all three were nice boats. I have a friend with the Trophy and he loves it still after owning it for about 5 years. His is used in salt water 3/4 of the time and it has held up well. I would try to see each of the boats that you are considering at a dealership with your whole family and get in the boat together to see if the set up fits you as well as you had envisioned. If it does do a sea trial and see if it runs and handles as you would expect. Make sure it is easy to fish from and that it is comfortable for everyone on board. Then it should be a simple matter of buying whichever one you like the best. I would also lean only toward those models that do not have anything that would rot in them also.

My wife informed me our CC was not very comfortable and she frequently got wet. She likes the replacement boat which is a dual console layout. Kinda sounds like the bowrider you just sold. Good luck!

What is the price range?

I just bought a Seapro Sv1900CC with a 150 Optimax ( stock motor is 115 4 stroker or they will also put a Verado if you want) and it fits your criteria nicely. We took it out yesterday right after we bought it and it is everything I wanted it to be. See if you have a dealer near you...
