This will be my first time changing the oil on my yamaha 4stroke and changing plugs. Is there any other items i need to be concerned with. Any help will be gladly accepted.

Re: 1st oil change

How many hours do you have on the motor? You will want to change the lower unit oil, and possibly check the valve adjustment.

The valve adjustment will depend on the hours you have on it, check your owners manual.

You may want to post in the Yamaha forum to get the most answers.

Re: 1st oil change

hello,

check plug part #, and gap. always... put some anti~seize on the plug threads since head is alum and plug is steel threads, and be sure to torque plugs to spec per service manual. also, be sure to ck the plug torque regularly, as they can get loose on some engines between outings...

dispose of oil ecologically. most national auto parts stores will accept the used oil...

and as iboat experts advise... use fresh drain plug washers. that is a must to ensure water dont enter there...

have fun! :)

Re: 1st oil change

as yamaha builds 4 stroke motors from 2.5HP to 350 HP can we get a rough Idea of what we are discussing ?
as you used the plural form of plug I may assume its at least a 2 cylinder version ?
