1st time rebuild (for fun??)

I am looking to rebuild an outboard for fun!?!? and experience of course.
Wondering if yall had any suggestions for something to get my feet wet with. I plan on doing a complete teardown/rebuild . Will probably sell it when done. just need a hobby for the winter months when fishing slows down. I have rebuilt motorcycle 4 strokes, never any 2 strokes, but I dont think i will have any problems with a manual and YOU GUYS HERE!! my outboard buddy has several blown johnson/evinrudes late 70 early 80's of various horsepower that he is recommending. easy/cheep to get parts for?>>? he will sell me one for dirt.. just wanted some opinions

Yep...any late 70's..early 80's Johnson would be fine. Trouble is ya probably won't sell it, as then ya will look for a boat for it!
