4.3 L SX Volvo Penta.<br /><br />Any do's or don'ts?<br /><br />Any seals / gaskets I should buy ahead of time?

use the recomened oil<br /><br />look at the oil when it drains and check for any signs of water or metal<br /><br />i change the drain and fill seals every time<br /><br />be sure you pump in the oil the way volvo recomends and that you use enough oil I/O drives dont like being low on oil<br /><br />tommays

I was think more about removing the outdrive and lubricating the u-joint etc.

disconnect shift cable remove drive should check alignment but if it comes off easy may be ok<br />grease u joints wih wheel bearing grease inspect bellows for oil or water if water found replace bellows if oil reseal drive grease drive shaft splines with moly lube check gimbal bearing for roughness and grease with wheel bearing grease one seal required for water passage 2 o'rings on drive shaft (horses donk) when reinstalling shift drive into a gear so you can turn drive shaft to align splines

marinemech: I have oil in my 4.3 OMC Cobra u-joint bellows and don't understand what you said to do. I was thinking it may be coming from a worn rear engine seal. Comments?
