Engine popping back through carb at 3500 rpm to 5500 rpm. Runs fine on water muffs on land. Already changed plugs,wires,distributor,timming and belt done. Interrupt, tach and overstroke eliminated. Also coil replaced. Anyone have any thoughts. Was thinking of retarding cam. May not be getting all exhaust out and popping out intake ??

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... I'd sooner think it's goin' lean,.... Check the fuel delivery system,.....

Fuel filter, fuel pump?
Never heard of "May not be getting all exhaust out and popping out intake "
Check the points for gap.
You need to check the dist. for crud build up under the points plate.
Sometimes the springs rust and don't open the advance.
