I am new to inboard/outboards. I switched from 115 hp outboard cause i was tired of the bs with 2 cycle motors and wanted something reliable. Picked up a 88 bayliner with a 2.3 omc cobra. Turned over fine in the driveway everytime and didn't show any problems at the lake until about 30 minutes into the trip. Left us stranded around 2am. Temp looks good but white smoke in exhaust. Im new to this so any help or advice where to start would be appreciated. I'll also be doing the work myself.

I know everyone is thinking the same thing. Blow headgasket... Well so am i, but i don't get it when it comes to this boat. Everything seemed fine. Im looking to get the manual for it and go through the steps as far as cooling goes. The plan is trace the cooling system to make sure its new or pretty close, rebuilt carb, install an aftermarket temp guage to compare with stock one, inspect and probably change the headgasket and have the head checked out and take it out for a test run.Again i know this is probaby redundant for some of you but i dont' have a clue.
