Hi everyone. Long time lurker, first time answer poster. I've been trying to sort out this problem with my 2.3L OMC Cobra with the malllory distributor. Long story short, I pulled all the spark plug wires out by the cable and not the boot, and severed one cable because I'm a moron. I Bought new cables but forgot what position on the distributor was which, and I couln't decode the manual's diagram, so I was stuck. I finally got it by removing the #1 spark plug and sticking a long (2-foot) drill bit into the hole, then hand cranking the engine to see where the distributor's rotor was pointing when the piston was as top-dead-center. I had such a hard time with this, I thought I would post a couple of pics of the spark plug wires in the right order.
FYI, the plug wires are sierra marine's p/n 18-8807-1
The oil filter is a Fram PH-8A
The fuel/water separator is a sierra marine 18-7846 / OMC 502905
