2.5 hp Mariner

I bought a used 1993 2.5 hp Mariner and i've been told to use a 50:1 fuel oil mixture. It runs great, but after running a while, I get some black oily streak from the exhaust hole and the spark plug look oily and wet. Does anybody have any idea what might be the problem ?

It might be running a bit rich. Or you are trolling quite a bit. <br /><br />You might try to lean out the low speed jet, give it less fuel.<br /><br />Also before shutting the engine down, run it at high speed for a few mins, then let it idle for about 30seconds..before turning it off.<br /><br />TMD

What type of 2 stroke oil are you using? I've found that the cheaper stuff (lubramatic, etc..) leaves a beard coming from the exhaust port.<br />Could try better oil, like mercury permium plus..<br /><br />Scott..
