2-cycle oil

I`ve used Quicksilver synthetic blend 2 cycle oil in my 1985, 50hp. 4cyl. Mercury with no problems
sincs I got the boat in April 2009
I knew then the cylinders, pistons & rings were in bad shape, I now have it apart for overhaul.
Last week I seen Pennzoil premium plus synthetic 2-cycle oil at the store.The Quichsilver is
$4.00 for 16oz. The Pennzoil is $6.00 for 1qt. that makes the Pennzoil less expensive, but that
don't matter. Is one better then the other?, cleaner?, less carbon? less smoke?, better
lube? or is it just a personal choice? Both are TC-W3. THANKS TO EVERYONE...........HAS

Yes. They are both better than the other.

When the blend TCW-3 oils came out I jumped on them as I am convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt as to their (synthetic oils) superior performance in all my engines, diesel, 2-4 cycle. I use Merc or Penn indiscriminately. The main thing I notice is that smoking has all but disappeared, and spark plug inspections of my piston crowns indicate clean combustion....course running Sea Foam in the fuel helps that too.

You addressed an inside joke, HAS. There are more threads and more posts on here arguing about unprovable opinions about 2 stroke oils than any other topic.

Read a few hundred of those posts and you will agree that both are better than the other.
