2 Cylinder ETEC gearcase prop spacer melting

Hi, new to the forum. Sorry if this is a repost but I could not find anything on the forum. I have had a few 40 thru 60 hp ETEC motors that keep melting the fiberglass prop spacer and sometimes the Hydrus ring. Tech has told me to drill out a water passage in the gearcase, but this does not fix my problem. It is happening on pontoons primarily, but recently also on my buddies 60HP on a planing aluminum. Any advice towards the next step to fix the problem would be greatly appriciated, thanks.

If motor is still in warranty, make this a BRP/dealer problem.

The big block Etec V6's had a similar problem caused by high exhaust gas temperatures which damaged different parts. Can't recall the factory fix, but they had one.

The best thing to do would be to call BRP customer service at 1-847-689-7090 and talk to them. Yes the larger mtrs had probs with this but haven't heard of any on the smaller mtrs. Just a guess but it sounds like a mtr installation prob to me. Or plugged up trim tabs.
