I heard this term the other day. It's an illness boaters suffer with. I heard in can be a costly one.
I was just wondering who has or is suffering with this?

If you have a 15 foot boat you soon wish for a 17 foot.

Re: 2 foot'itis

I had a 24 foot boat . . . I was coming down with a case of 4 footitis, which is even worse than 2 footitis.

Then things got even worse and I ended up with this . . .

Formula 330 SS

9 footitis . . .

But, I think I am 'cured' now.

We have almost all suffered this from time to time. Going down in size happens too, but much more rare. Good luck with your battle.

Went from a 19 ft Starcraft to a 24 ft SeaRay and now have a 2007 30 ft FourWinns and now looking at a 2005 Cruisers Yachts 375 Motoryacht. Don't believe in 2ft jumps

As soon as I find a way to jam a 20 or 21 footer in my garage the 18' boat is gone.

I think trying to "Keep Up With the Joneses" has a lot to do with the 2' itis.

I have a 12ft boat. 15-16 ft would allow me to take my family out and fish different places. Nothing to do with keeping up with the Jones's .

I thought the Jones' had their boat repossessed... :D

I went from a 12' Crawdad to a 14' jon boat,,, and a 16' trihull to a 18' V-hull. So yeah, 2foot'itus here...

It is all to common
I would love to move up to a 24'er but the price tag is a bit more than the admiral will let me spend.

A $25000 upgrade is a bit hard to sell to her

We resisted the 2 ft version for many tears but a case of the 5ft version caught us by suprise and got us in the end.

My 2ftitis all involved Starcrafts, 16SS to an 18SS and now a 20 SS at least it is easy to sell the old one!!!

Re: 2 foot'itis

I kind of laughed thinking about two-foot-itis when we upgraded our 15' tri-hull for a 17' bowrider a couple of months ago. It wasn't so much a matter of the extra two feet, but more a matter of doubling the weight/passenger capacity of the boat as well as the horsepower. I'm sure as the kids get older and we refine what we like to do with the boat we will upgrade yet again. Somehow, though, I think the next stop will be much bigger than 19'.

My history goes something like this (including family boats):
19ft->14Ft->16Ft->10ft (PWC)->19ft and now we are craving something 21ft:)

Re: 2 foot'itis

I'm afraid I have a bad case. And its getting worse, 12ft->15ft->21ft->32ft. (+3ft->+6ft->+11ft)
I've only been in the Cruisers for 2 years now and I already find myself looking at 40+ft trawlers.

Re: 2 foot'itis

Have had it in the past; went from a 16' to an 18' to a 23' to 26', now back to a 23'. Prob the smallest I'll go; the 26 footer was just a PIA for me at the launch/dock by myself, plus I didn't really need that much space since my kids are mostly grown, working and doing their own things now. Plus having twin V8s to maintain gets to be tiresome, single big Ford with a jet is far simpler to maintain!
