i was just wondering if the 2# would be suffient enough to fill the void areas under my new boat floor or would the 4# foam have to be used? i pulled some foam out from under my old floor but im not sure how to tell what density foam they were useing. also would epoxy resin be better to seal floor and transom wood or would the poly resin be the best? any advise would be appreciated

ello there Cat..

UM..2#-4# is kinda weak..im thinking 8-12

the expantion rate of lower # rates are great..you must be sure that you have some kind of breather holes before you start pouring in some foam.. can you say...KaPow !! .. ive seen floors blow from expantion..be careful with foam.

aye..poly is just fine for all your sealing.

Thanks YD I have heard of the expantion produces great force! would the holes im pouring the foam into and the small 1/2 or so gap at the edges of the floor be enough relief for the foam or could i still be looking at to much compression? if i do put lets say radom holes as reliefs would i just fiberglass back over them holes as well as the holes the foam is being poored in? I thought a paint job and some new floors and transom wood wouldnt be so bad but so far the labor envolved hasnt been hard on me but the cost of all these foams and wood and resins and fiberglass and alum paints and primers start adding up fast!!! i would hate to see what a place would charge you though for replacing all the floor and transom wood and new paint and carpet basically a total restoration type job.

Foam more foam The best foam is "No Foam" IMHO.
The only foam I like is on draft beer.

jgreer.com for the foam, they will answer questions. Epoxy is by far better than poly but poly wont bond to epoxy so there is the issue of finishing with it once starting with it and cost is much higher. (jgreer also sells epoxy). I am pretty sure the foam is the weight per cubic foot of the foam so maybe weigh some and do the math to figure what was in there (it would have to be dry and a solid piece).
