2 questions 6hp,oil,long shaft

i have a 1972 long shaft 6 hp
1. what is the oil mix;i now this is simply but if you don't know
2. can i take the ext. out and covert to a short shaft

50: 1.... 87 or 89 US Octane to TCW-3 oil.

You can convert it, but by far the easier course is to find a complete short shaft drive so that you can simply switch them when you want.

Keep a look out on ebay and/or check with the salvage yards.

Changing it to short shaft is only slightly more difficult than changing the water pump. Don't let it scare you.
